At this same restaurant, we were able to enjoy a night of entertainment from these very talented players as they played & sang for the customers in their traditional custom.
We thanked God for the many opportunities to give out Bibles & shoes we had left for some of the workers where we stayed, and for a time of much needed rest.
Before we left Punta Perula, we enjoyed a nice seafood meal at this restaurant on the beach. As the parents enjoyed their meals, their children ate quickly & raced to the beach to play & swim, as the parents watched from the restaurant.  The life here is hard for most of the people, but there are lessons we can learn from their simplicity and ability to enjoy what God has offered them.
One day I saw this lady come off the street, and stand on the beach looking around as if she didn't know which way to walk.  When she saw me, she started to come in my direction with a basket of simple necklaces she had made to sell, and a bottle of soda.  I motioned her over, and she asked if it was ok to eat her "comida" under my shade.  I urged her to come & sit in Peter's empty chair, and she gratefully accepted with a heavy sigh of relief. Through my poor understanding  of Spanish, I finally figured out that she had walked all the way from the next town to sell her wares (at least two miles), & was tired & hungry. I started to wonder if I was entertaining an "angel". It is not normal for these people to ask for a favor, & I was totally fascinated with her. Since I couldn't have much of a conversation, I began to sing "How Great Thou Art" , & in between bites of her sandwich, she started to "hum" along with a beautiful tone.  When she was through eating, she started to sing "The Battle Hymn of The Republic" in Spanish (of all songs-& I could hardly remember the words), but I joined her in English, and within minutes, we were singing this together with all our might!  She even sang three verses & the chorus several times, & I had a hard time keeping up  with her!  We laughed together, I bought 7 sets of her little wares, and she walked down the beach waving her hat at me in a "goodbye".  I am still wondering about all this.
Even with two bad legs, Peter can still enjoy the warm water!  Sorry, I don't mean to rub it in, since you all are experiencing some cold snowy weather. But we DO serve a marvelous God who made all this for our enjoyment!
For only 30 pesos, Peter is finally relaxed, and enjoying one of his favorite drinks!
About two days later, the same lady was down the beach at another place, & her daughter saw me on the beach & ran to sit down & talk to me.  She had been studying English at her school, & wanted to try out her new language.  We had a fun time together, and I was glad to share alittle about Jesus and give her a couple of tracts to read.
A small crowd started to arrive in front of us, as she handled her machete with perfect precision!
This sweet lady came by with her daughter, selling cocoanuts & Peter couldn't resist! We gave them New Testaments, & the lady told me she was a Christian, and happy to have a Bible.
