One day I saw this lady come off the street, and stand on the beach looking around as if she didn't know which way to walk.  When she saw me, she started to come in my direction with a basket of simple necklaces she had made to sell, and a bottle of soda.  I motioned her over, and she asked if it was ok to eat her "comida" under my shade.  I urged her to come & sit in Peter's empty chair, and she gratefully accepted with a heavy sigh of relief. Through my poor understanding  of Spanish, I finally figured out that she had walked all the way from the next town to sell her wares (at least two miles), & was tired & hungry. I started to wonder if I was entertaining an "angel". It is not normal for these people to ask for a favor, & I was totally fascinated with her. Since I couldn't have much of a conversation, I began to sing "How Great Thou Art" , & in between bites of her sandwich, she started to "hum" along with a beautiful tone.  When she was through eating, she started to sing "The Battle Hymn of The Republic" in Spanish (of all songs-& I could hardly remember the words), but I joined her in English, and within minutes, we were singing this together with all our might!  She even sang three verses & the chorus several times, & I had a hard time keeping up  with her!  We laughed together, I bought 7 sets of her little wares, and she walked down the beach waving her hat at me in a "goodbye".  I am still wondering about all this.
